Hope Road Cancelled
The winter weather gods apparently do not like us scheduling Saturday road races. All signs point to the snow continuing well into the morning hours, so we are pulling the plug on this race. We'll do our best to reschedule to another weekend, so stay tuned.

Will Ross, Sheryl Loan Win Inaugural Campbell Airstrip HC
It was a beautiful sunny evening for our first-ever race up Campbell Airstrip Road, but unfortunately the winter gravel was still thick at the top of the road, and we had to shorten the race distance by about half a mile. Not that anyone was complaining about not having to break their legs to get up the last steep pitches...
Perennial favorites Will Ross and Sheryl Loan repeated their performances from the Potter Valley hill climb two weeks ago, and chalked up the Expert category wins on Tuesday night. But perhaps the most impressive category win came from Tom Peichel in the Master Men 40+ race, proving that big burly dudes can sometimes beat those scrawny little climber types at their own game.
Race results are posted. Campbell Airstrip was the second race in our Finishing Edge hill climb series. Current points totals after race #2 are posted.

Sheryl Loan Narrowly Wins 2013 Bike for Women Time Trial
Sunday's clear skies and dry roads were a complete turnaround from Saturday's snowstorm, and just in time! Over 550 women and girls of all ages and abilities turned out to tackle the 9-mile race against the clock on Sunday. Veteran champion Sheryl Loan posted the best time for the overall win, edging out Shannon Donley by just 2 seconds.

Seward Highway 35K Time Trial Records Obliterated
By some miracle, the north wind that hammered racers at the Potter Valley hill climb on Thursday evening stuck around for Sunday's time trial down the Seward Highway, a point-to-point race from Bird Point to the base of Turnagain Pass. Racers enjoyed strong tailwinds along most of the 21-mile course--at least until rounding the turn at Portage and having to plow back upwind for three miles to the finish!
Against the beautiful sunny mountain backdrop, Daniel Folmar narrowly beat a flying Richard Tilton by just six seconds, but chopped almost six minutes off the previous course record from 2006. In fact, five of the six Expert men broke the old course record, along with three of the Master 40+ men!
On the women's side, Sheryl Loan also rewrote the record books, taking almost five minutes off the women's mark, also from 2006. All of the Expert women, along with Shannon Titzel of the Master 40+ women, broke the old record. Whoa!
Thanks to all 50+ racers who turned out today! Results are posted.
